About Us
We are a small volunteer run committee working together to create a beautiful, functional, sensory and edible garden in a safe, accessible and welcoming environment. A space that encourages and welcomes all community members regardless of age or ability, to participate and come together, valuing individual qualities and strengths. Our garden will be a place that encourages new connections through a common purpose and promotes the transfer of knowledge between our senior community members, novice gardeners and local school children.

Our Story
Mulwala Community Garden was born from an idea to repurpose a neglected public space into a valued , whole of community asset. A space that is not only visually attractive, but practical, and one where a wide cross section of the community regardless of age or physical ability, can come together. with a common purpose.
With the support of volunteers, community members and the involvement of our local public school and pre school, the space will provide opportunity for community members to share the love of gardening and impart knowledge to a new generation, that might otherwise be lost.
The Purpose
A space that promotes a sense of connectedness and wellbeing as well as a sense of purpose for those that may feel disconnected due to age or loneliness. As a whole of community asset, the garden hub will truly be a place for all to enjoy, with spaces to sit and relax or where you can be actively involved in growing food and produce to share, participate in workshops, events or just sit back relax and enjoy the space.
The location is central to the township and will be a unique space, with no similar facility in the Mulwala township. From health benefits, to community inclusiveness and connection, this project will provide a public asset to be enjoyed across the age spectrum, from school children, to families and our older citizens, providing opportunity to join hands for a common cause.
With all abilities access, physical ability will not be a barrier to use of the facility. Our local school children will have an opportunity to learn new skills and the value of community through sharing what they produce. From a streetscape perspective, the garden will highlight one of the few remaining heritage sites in Mulwala and provide a focal point of the local main street.
